Each February, over 150 high school students from across Texas and Louisiana
gather at Texas A&M University for a two-day glimpse of
opportunities in engineering and the Dwight Look College of
Engineering. The conference is open to female and male high school
students.
On Friday, the first day of the conference, high school students attend engineering classes withcurrent engineering students and participate in tours of research facilities on campus. At night, students
are invited to dine at the scholarship banquet and hear from speakers
such as engineering administration, corporate speakers, and the Texas
A&M Yell Leaders.
The following day, students choose 2-3 tours offered by individual engineering departments. In addition, a design competition is held to introduce students to the principles of team work and engineering problem solving. Companies often participate in the design process by providing case studies for students to solve.
