Co-Chairs: Note: The summer camp application deadline has been extended to April 1st! Every summer the Society of Women Engineers hosts a weeklong summer camp for girls entering the eighth and ninth grade. We focus on reaching out to girls from diverse backgrounds that have had limited exposure to the world of engineering. It is a great opportunity for them to learn about engineering and other math- and science-related fields. It is also a great opportunity for Texas A&M engineering students to be counselors. Throughout the week, the campers will participate in hands-on activities and lectures by Texas A&M faculty from the many different engineering departments. In the past the campers have built boats, mousetrap cars, bridges, etc. These projects are a great tool in developing their design, communication and team building skills; it also provides the young ladies with a sense of accomplishment when they finally complete each project. The trip also includes the following activities.
