Full-Time Opportunities

As a member of the Manageability Firmware Test Team, you'll be part of a
team that designs, implements, tests, validates and executes software
tests and software test architecture for HP's line of Integrity Servers.
You will work very closely with several related disciplines (system
firmware, FPGA developers, hardware developers, chip designers, OS
developers) to ensure effective integration of multiple software

components. You will help define, design and implement the test
development and test execution environments. You will also help define,
design, and implement the tests used to validate functionality in the
manageability subsystem.

Education:
Bachelor's (undergraduate), Master's (graduate), or Ph.D. (post
graduate) degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or
Electrical Engineering

Required Experience/Knowledge:

  -Basic to Intermediate knowledge of software development and testing
    fundamentals
  -Familiarity with computer architecture concepts
  -LINUX or UNIX OS knowledge
  -Familiar with basic system design considerations including FPGA
    knowledge, an understanding of the differences between hardware,
    firmware, device drivers, operating systems and application software

Required Skills:
  -Communication/interpersonal skills are critical
  -Intermediate level UNIX user skills sets
  -Entry/Intermediate level PERL scripting skills
  -Intermediate level Shell scripting skills (sh, ksh, or csh)

Desired Experience/Knowledge:
  -Firmware testing experience
  -Familiar with high end or mid range server architecture concepts
  -Familiar with basic PA-RISC or Itanium firmware environment
  -Experience with development and/or maintenance of PERL scripts

The Field Engineer is completely responsible for all aspects of the Schlumberger operation at the job site, be it a seismic vessel, an offshore oil rig, or a desert land rig. As a trainee, a Field Engineer receives intense training in technical theory and applications, troubleshooting, procedures, safety, crew management, and client interaction. Field Engineers progress through a structured training program lasting 30-36 months and spend an average of five years (in total) working in the field. This experience prepares the Field Engineer for advancement into a variety of management, technical, marketing and/or personnel roles. Field Engineers are given a great deal of independence and responsibility and must have a high degree of self-sufficiency. The job requires the ability to work under pressure and thrive in a variety of outdoor, 24-hour work environments. A sense of adventure is a must!

Job Qualifications:
•full time student obtaining degree from an accredited 4 year University in any Engineering discipline (this does not include Engineering Technologies), Geosciences, and Physics.

•Minimum GPA 2.75 / 4.0

•Valid driving license and a clean driving record

•The legal right to work in the
United States.

Co-op/Internship Opportunities

HP @ Research Park is accepting resumes and interviewing for some open intern positions.  These are year-round on-campus internships starting in Oct 2006.  The facility is located in Research Park on West Campus.

Requirements for prospective candidates:
  - 3.0 GPR (min)
  - Full-time student status
  - Sophomore or higher classification
  - Expected graduation date of Dec '07 or later
  - Major in CPSC, CEEN, ELEN, ENTC, CECN
  - Available to work 15 - 19 hours per week during the school year
  - US Citizen or Permanent Resident
 
A familiarity with computer hardware, SW programming a plus.
